Become a volunteer teacher

Our Impact

AEGEE-Florence has been organizing free courses for more than 10 years, thanks to the collaboration with volunteer teachers and with ZAP (Protected Aromatic Zone) which hosts us just steps away from the Duomo.

Over the years it has been possible to organize hundreds of courses, from the most classic English or Italian courses for foreigners, to more particular language courses, such as Japanese, Chinese, Russian or Modern Greek.

The courses have allowed numerous young people to challenge themselves, trying to teach with the desire to share their passion, their language and culture, or perhaps to put themselves in the teacher’s shoes in view of a future career.

Application Process

Current Recruitment: Applications open for October 2025 semester
Your Commitment: With a commitment of just a few hours per week, in person or online, the courses are an excellent opportunity for students, recent graduates, Italians and foreigners to train and test themselves in the field, with an experience that can also be added to their resume. The courses begin in October and March, with one weekly meeting for 10 lessons.

Testimonials from Our Volunteer Teachers

If you still have some doubts, below we report the experiences of some teachers who have collaborated with us recently:

“I wanted to thank you for the opportunity you offered me this year. I really enjoyed being a teacher, I learned many things and had beautiful encounters, with people I will surely see again even after this Erasmus. You organize really useful things that connect people and help to exchange and learn, and for all this I am truly grateful. Thanks again. Best regards” โ€“ Vito, French Teacher

“Teaching an AEGEE course was one of the most beautiful things that ever happened to me! I had the opportunity to teach drawing basics to young people of various ages and nationalities and it was a beautiful way to meet new people. My passion for the subject embraced the participants’ enthusiasm and the 10 lessons flew by! I discovered that teaching is also a way of learning, thanks to a mutual exchange that is created during the courses! I thank you immensely for making me part of this magical reality!” โ€“ Mario, Drawing Teacher

“I taught the online English course, level A2-B1, together with another teacher. It was a stimulating and enriching experience. We tried to make each lesson fun, with games, quizzes, music and much more. The result was that not only did the students become more fluent and confident with the language, but I myself had a lot of fun!” โ€“ Giada, English Teacher

“Teaching Japanese was and is very fun. The first year was a bit of a test, especially for myself. Then the second time was another little adventure. It went much better, I gained confidence and the students also seemed very engaged to me. They were two very instructive experiences, and I admit, I wouldn’t mind teaching again both Japanese and trying to teach a bit of Italian to foreigners next semester. If I ever had to describe the experience in a few words I would definitely say that it gave everyone a lot of entertainment, was instructive and gave us the opportunity to meet new people.” โ€“ Niccolรฒ, Japanese Teacher
